The compliments I receive about my work usually are about floral paintings and drawings. Collectors respond to the subject. And I am passionate about these brief bursts of beauty too. As an expressionist painter I know there is a trap in doing work that is so loaded with cliche and expectations. But that's where the opportunity lies. By using an authentic voice and avoiding overworking a piece sometimes the joy comes through.
And I'm grateful that viewers and collectors respond.
